ENGICOIN: an important milestone reached

On February 15^th the Project Committee Meeting was held on line to discuss the latest progresses done within the consortium.

Engicoin is a Horizon 2020 project that aims at the development of an integrated platform for the production of value-added chemicals (acetone, lactic acid, “PHA” bioplastic), exploiting CO₂ sources by biological processes.

A first important milestone was reached: the 500 L lactic acid microbial factory was delivered by our project partner Photanol and installed at the ACEA Pinerolese Industriale site. The prototype will use real exhaust gases from the biogas production plant designed and constructed by HYSYTECH and installed on site.

In the next months the construction and installation of the microbial factories for the synthesis of PHB bioplastics and acetone will be completed by HYSYTECH.
