HYSYTECH will supply BIOGASJH with a plant of Bio-LNG from Biogas
Ostersund-Turin, August 3rd 2023 - An important agreement has been signed between two companies in the field of renewable energy: BIOGAS I JAMTLAND HARJEDALEN AB has awarded HYSYTECH Srl with the construction of a biogas upgrading and biomethane liquefaction plant for the production of bio-LNG (Liquefied Biomethane), including cryogenic storage and loading station for tanker truck.
The bio-LNG will be produced starting from the organic fraction of household waste collected in the city of Ostersund and in other 7 municipalities of the Jamtland region (130,000 inhabitants).
The plant will start Biogas production in the first months of 2025: the flow rate will be up to 700 Nm3/h and the production will be up to 36 GWh per year (approximately 7 tpd- tons per day- of bio-LNG). LNG will be delivered at temperature as low as -158° C and 0,5 barg to be used as biofuel in transportation sector.
HYSYTECH has been awarded for the full turn-key scope, from the design, construction, commissioning and start-up of the plant, including spare parts and maintenance services.
HYSYTECH will indeed take care of the process equipment to upgrade the Biogas to Biomethane; liquefaction equipment will be manufactured by Stirling Cryogenics, Dutch company from the same group, world specialist in cryogenic technologies.
The waste treatment site is a greenfield project, that will be operated by BIOGAS I JAMTLAND HARJEDALEN AB. The project applied and received EU support via Naturvardsverket, Klimatklivet Next Generation of SEK 143 million as a contribution to finance the entire project.
The use and demand for biomethane, a natural and renewable fuel derived from the biogas purification process (upgrading), and for LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), are growing strongly and represent a concrete future of sustainable energy and reduction of transport sector carbon footprint.
