RECODE, a successful decarbonization project

RECODE, a successful decarbonization project

The RECODE project (EU H2020) ended, after 5 years of work, with the review meeting of the last 27th and 28th September.

The consortium succeeded in the intent to demonstrate the capture and use of CO2 from the flue gases of a cement factory (Kamari plant, located in Athens and owned by the Titan cement group), as well as the conversion of CO2 into additives for the cement industry, thus closing the circle in a circular economy perspective.

HYSYTECH carried out the scale-up and construction of the CO2 capture unit with a capture capacity of 16 kg/h of CO2 and designed and built the two electrochemical units for the conversion of carbon dioxide into formic and oxalic acid.

HYSYTECH also took care of the integration of the 4 units of the project, thus reaching TRL6.

The success of the RECODE project represents a further step in HYSYTECH's committment to the development of processes for decarbonization and for the reduction of CO2 emissions.
