RECODE, a successful decarbonization project

The RECODE project (EU H2020) ended, after 5 years of work, with the review meeting of the last 27^th and 28^th September.

The consortium succeeded in the intent to demonstrate the capture and use of CO₂ from the flue gases of a cement factory (Kamari plant, located in Athens and owned by the Titan cement group), as well as the conversion of CO₂ into additives for the cement industry, thus closing the circle in a circular economy perspective.

HYSYTECH carried out the scale-up and construction of the CO₂ capture unit with a capture capacity of 16 kg/h of CO₂ and designed and built the two electrochemical units for the conversion of carbon dioxide into formic and oxalic acid.

HYSYTECH also took care of the integration of the 4 units of the project, thus reaching TRL6.

The success of the RECODE project represents a further step in HYSYTECH's committment to the development of processes for decarbonization and for the reduction of CO₂ emissions.
